Racing UK
United Kingdom/Europe
And you know...the UK is pretty awesome for racing! Consistency is what you get ... Consistently changing conditions that is! One minute becalmed at Osbourne bay and the next minute you are heeling on 20 knots and considering a sail change! Life is never dull in the Solent that's all we can say!!
What a great place to come and learn how to sail - in a yacht racing event. Come as strangers ...leave as friends. It's still amazing to see the difference a few hours at sea makes.
What to expect
Whether you are watching the races from the comfort of your luxury yacht or whether you take part, the racing part of the week is always the highlight of a regatta! Time for adrenaline to rush, heart rates to increase and for the stories in the bar to be more animated than ever!
You cannot believe how a yacht, only doing 10 knots per hour powered by sails can be such an exciting place to be when on a racing start line...or rounding a mark. Who will get there first...will you be able to call for "water" or will you have to give way and lose a place, maybe 2?
We would encourage anyone who is interested in sailing and is up for a little bit of excitement to try a race, at least once in your life!!
In a weekly regatta, there are generally 5/6 races in the week, 1 per day. The racing starts early to allow for the hundreds of classes in the competition to charge over the start line in 10/15 minute intervals. After 4/5 hours of racing with ever changing tactics, you arrive back to the party atmosphere of the marina and its time for sundowners before joining the late night parties either on the beach or in the beer tent.
We will get you ready to look the part! Your beautifully designed team shirts are ready to be printed with the name of your yacht, which you wear with pride. We sincerely hope you will 'have a go' as we are certain you will enjoy the thrill of the race!
